William P. Pape has had a lifetime of experience in people problems and their resolution



• As an attorney, completed divorces in both New York and New Jersey, defended parents accused of child abuse and neglect, appeared in municipal court on both traffic and criminal matters, written numerous wills, argued for petitioners in bankruptcy court and fought off foreclosure proceedings

• Served a volunteer mediator in custody, divorce, and small claims matters (Please hit "Links" tab, above, for links to mediation websites)

• Served on the boards of a substance abuse treatment clinic and a women’s support clinic, as well as other non-profit groups serving the community. Advised in legal clinics for Women Helping Women in Metuchen, NJ and Women Aware, New Brunswick, NJ; currently teach the law portion for a class on parenting education for New York family court litigants

• Admitted to the New York, New Jersey and federal district court bars; member New York State Bar Association, member of NY Bar Assoc's family law and dispute resolution sections, member New Jersey State Bar Association, member of NJ Bar Assoc's family law section and past vice-chairperson of children's law section, member of Middlesex County Bar Association

• Appointed to the law guardian panel in New York

• Graduated from Princeton University and Rutgers Law School, and trained in mediation, substance abuse and other custody/vistation issues

•Thirty years working for the court system in New Jersey, as a probation officer, mediator, domestic violence and child support intake officer, supervised visitation supervisor, child custody report and presentence report writer and supervisor, making recommendations to judges for custody and visitation decisions and criminal sentencing, doing intake with people seeking to file court papers
